The Sonora

For nights that begin as the sun is setting.

The Sonora began as a vivid orange red blazer, richly embroidered across the front with floral motifs worked over sheer, tulle like panels. There is a delicacy to the original textile that feels almost unexpected against everything that was added to it.

Long antique gold and dusty blue twisted fringe falls heavily from antique golden trim, sweeping around the body and moving freely with every step. Pearl centered gold toned medallions are sewn along the front, bringing another layer of ornament to the sheer embroidered panels.

From behind, the details quiet just enough. The orange red fabric is left largely uninterrupted, framed by long cascading fringe and a slender line of golden trim. Pearl centered gold toned medallions travel down the center of the back, drawing the eye toward the lowest point of the silhouette.

There is something beautifully contradictory about Sonora. Sheer embroidery and heavy fringe. Pearls and twisted cord. Something delicate made a little wilder.

Made for long roads, music heard from another room, worn denim, bare shoulders and the kind of nights you wish would last a little longer.

Created from an existing garment and individually reworked and sewn by hand, no two Howdy Sh’awl pieces will ever be exactly alike.
