The Ravena

Garnet ribbons, midnight shimmer.

The Ravena began as a dramatic black vintage garment, its surface richly textured and heavily embellished with intricate beadwork. The original beading sweeps across the neckline and front in ornate patterns of black, silver and smoky metallic tones, giving the piece an almost armor like richness that catches the light with every movement.

Deep garnet ruffled trim traces the sweeping edges, contrasting against the black before giving way to long cream fringe. At the front points, ornate arrowhead shaped jewelry embellishments anchor the design, each framed in clear rhinestones with a dark oval jewel at its center. Trailing remnants of black, cream and garnet lace fall beneath them, adding softness and movement against the structured beadwork.

At the back, the garnet trim meets in a hand formed bow created from the remaining ruffled trim, allowing even the remnants of the design process to become part of the finished piece. Suspended beneath it is a repurposed vintage necklace pendant, with a deep wine-colored center framed by ornate metalwork, transformed from jewelry into the final focal point of the garment.

Made from an existing vintage garment and thoughtfully transformed by hand, Ravena brings together what was already extraordinary with details created from what might otherwise have been left behind.
